Billionaires Suck
Let’s get one thing straight: The billionaires suck. And they do it in every way possible.
They are literally sucking the life out of us. While the 99% struggle and watch the world swirl down the drain, the billionaire class gets richer and richer. You can see it in charts like this one:
On top of that, the billionaires suck as people — annoying, weird and repulsive. (Just look at Musk and Bezos.) People will say that it’s not good to personalize, but it’s not about who they are, it’s about what they are. Compulsively acquiring that level of wealth is not normal, or admirable.
That level of unchecked greed amounts to mental illness. The billionaires need therapy, not all our wealth and resources. And they certainly shouldn’t exert corrupt control over our government; but here we are.
Some people will believe the propaganda about how the billionaires are the great job creators, innovators, leaders — when the fact of the matter is that everything they acquire comes from the toil of the workers. And, for the sake of argument, let’s say a particular billionaire is really good at running a company — great — then after the company is converted into a worker owned-and-controlled enterprise, the workers can vote to hire them as a lead manager.
What it comes down to is this: We can’t have a healthy society as long as the billionaires are in charge.
It doesn’t have to be this way. But to fix it, we first need to identify the core problem: billionaire wealth and power is controlling our society, and, crucially, our corrupt government. The MC/DS framework brings clarity:
MC/DS: Money - Corruption / Demands - Solutions
After identifying the core problem of money and corruption, we must follow up with the demand: Fix big money in politics and government. It is #1 of the list of Eleven Demands. Nothing really gets better until we decorrupt our government.
When we point out the problems in our society, and our world, we need to be relentless about connecting them to the billionaire class, and calling out the corruption. We all have a role to play; it’s up to us to come together and fix this mess. See more at: elevendemands.org
